The Phantom of the Opera Story
The Phantom of the Opera is an adaptation of Gaston Leroux’s gothic novel Le Fantôme de l'Opéra. The story is about Christine Daaé, a young Swedish Soprano who lost her mother very young and who loses her father, an expert violinist, at the start of the play. On his deathbed he tells her that he will send her an ‘angel of music’ to look after her.
Christine goes to live with an elderly woman, Mamma Valerius, who finds her a position in the choir at the Paris Opera House. After singing at the opera house for a while she begins to hear a mysterious voice singing and talking back to her. Christine believes this voice is the angel her father talked about but it is the phantom!
The Phantom, called Erik, helped to build the Paris Opera House and has since been living in a secret room in the cellar and extorting money from the opera house. He falls in love with Christine and tries to romance her into loving him back only for her to uncover the true disfigurement of this distorted genius.
The Phantom of the Opera is a love story like no other. Experience the pain, anger and passion of a love that can never be.
